At Ovens Valley Physio & Pilates we are aware that finding the time to exercise with a new baby can be difficult. The Mums & Bubs classes are designed so you can bring your little one with you. Your baby can be included in the exercises which can help them with the development of postural tone, or they can relax and observe!
The classes utilise the Pilates equipment and mat area in a circuit format and are provided under the guidance of our women’s health physiotherapist Kristy.
All class participants are in the same situation and you need not worry if you have to break to feed or settle. Exercise in a relaxed and flexible environment. It is also a great chance for you both to socialise!
For the new mums the class helps labor recovery, reduces stomach muscle separation, strengthens the pelvic floor and is tailored towards the demands of a new mum like feeding and changing nappies. Specific benefits include:
When can I start?
Mums can attend the classes from 6 weeks after the birth of your baby; this also includes those mums who had C-sections. You will need an initial assessment from one of our physiotherapists prior to commencing the classes.
Who can attend?
Anyone who has had a baby! You do not need any pre-existing level of fitness. The exercises can be tailored to suit everyone.
How to book
Due to the nature of the appointments, online bookings are not available for Circuit Groups. Please contact us to book your initial appointment or group.
What should I bring?
Your baby! And anything to help make them feel comfortable, like a blanket to lie on or a favourite toy.
